Facebook is clearly ahead with nore than 2 billion active users; while YouTube follows close behind with 1, 2 billion. Instagram is a social network that has grown relatively fast in a short time.

The importance of these statistics is that it gives you, the website owner and marketer, a clear indication of which social network or networks to pay attention to. However, also bear in mind that numbers are not everything and some social networks may be better suited to your purposes than others – for example, Pinterst and Instagram for those whose products or sites are image intensive; like artist and shopping sites
